Information
PHYSICAL Location
Raymond Street Counseling is physically located in a private 100-year-old bungalow in the Foster-Powell Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The space is intentionally designed to serve as a secure mental health practice with features including easy parking, a walking mediation labyrinth, and a discreet waiting area.
Shilpa Trivedi, LCSW has called Portland home since 2006. However, she has worked in multiple locations in both Washington and Oregon and is familiar not only with cultural considerations in these two states but also with relevant resources and mental health services throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Teletherapy
Teletherapy through Raymond Street Counseling allows for those living throughout Oregon and Washington to connect to skillfully delivered ethical care regardless of their location.
For those living in rural areas, accessing competent mental health care can sometimes be a challenge, particularly for those looking for psychotherapists with specific training and areas of expertise. Shilpa Trivedi, LCSW has a wealth of experience working for a major hospital providing psychotherapy through telemental health to individuals and couples living in rural areas.
For those living in urban areas, in-person psychotherapy can still provide some logistical challenges. Telemental health increases access for those who may face such barriers as time-limitations, travel-limitations, mobility-related concerns, or other factors.
Shilpa Trivedi completed specialized training in delivering telemental health in a major hospital setting. This training included ongoing consultation to ensure effective delivery of treatment. Shilpa Trivedi has several years of experience regularly providing telemental health prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before and during the COVID-19 pandemic Shilpa Trivedi regularly trained other psychotherapists at a major hospital setting in effective delivery of telemental health and helped these psychotherapists learn to foster therapeutic connection and achieve strong treatment outcomes building on the strengths of those they worked with.
Research has consistently demonstrated that teletherapy is just as effective as psychotherapy provided in an in-person setting. Shilpa Trivedi is well-versed in the nuances of using teletherapy to foster connection and to help you work toward your goals. Shilpa Trivedi is passionate about the possibilities that telemental health brings to the mental health field as a whole and sees telemental health services as integral to her social work values and ethics.
Raymond Street Counseling uses a secure and HIPPA-compliant online platform, Simple Practice, specifically designed to deliver telehealth services. During your initial phone consultation Shilpa Trivedi will help you schedule your first appointment and ensure that you are able to get connected on whatever device(s) you wish to use for future sessions.

Updates Coming Soon!
For ease of scheduling, please verify your health insurance coverage for outpatient psychotherapy, including any deductibles, copays or limitations, regardless of whether you are “in-network” or “out-of-network.” You may be held liable for payment for claims that are rejected by your insurance.
Raymond Street Counseling does not contract directly with insurance companies other than those listed at this time. If your insurance company is not on the above list this means Raymond Street Counseling is what is considered “out of network” with your insurance company.
This does not necessarily mean that you cannot use your insurance to pay for sessions or that your insurance company will not reimburse your payment. In the event that you want to try to bill a different insurance company, Raymond Street Counseling will provide a detailed itemized statement, called a “superbill,” for you to send to your insurance provider. Raymond Street Counseling LLC will not communicate with your out-of-network insurance company directly.
If you are unsure as to what your insurance covers, Raymond Street Counseling LLC recommends asking the following questions of your insurance provider:
Does my health insurance include mental health services?
Does my plan cover telehealth services?
Do I have a deductible that applies to mental health services? If so, what is that deductible?
Does my plan limit how many sessions of psychotherapy I can have? If so, what is the limit?
What are my out-of-network mental health benefits?
Do I need written approval from my primary-care-physician in order for mental health services to be covered?
